On Wednesday Seimens unveiled the first custom electric motorcycle dubbed the "Seimens Smart Chopper." The bike was designed and built by the prolific motorheads at Orange County Choppers. The chopper sports the signature OCC style but being electric it lacks the ground rumbling roar. OCC founder Paul Teutul Jr. admits that everyone loves loud pipes but points out that this bike is the future (check out the interview below).
The Smart Chopper rocks a 27 HP electric motor that has a max speed of 100 mph. You can go 60 miles on a charge but then will need about 5 hrs to recharge and hit the road again. On top of the energy efficient motor the bike is made with many recycle materials and adorned with water based paints. Daryl Dulaney, President & CEO of Siemens Building Technologies explains:
"We wanted to build this unique chopper to raise environmental awareness and reflect what the 69,000 employees of Siemens USA are doing to help America stay on the cutting edge of tomorrow's green economy. Siemens is already very much a part of the fabric of America, and our portfolio is one of the greenest in the business. Green is not marketing hype for us; it is in our DNA."
The bike will go on tour across the US then will be auctioned off in 2010 and the proceeds given to an environmentally focused charity. For more information check out the Siemens press release.

Being in the “flying logo” business, I recognize the challenge the OCC guys face when they are doing a bike like this. It has to look cool, say something meaningful about the company paying for it, and also be technically perfect. Great job, guys!
$1M… SAY WHUUUUUT??? Wondering if Sieman’s is getting away from the point of renewable energy at a low cost to the consumer. And what’s up with the Vestas plant closing in the UK??? The turbines are toppling!
Awesome CHOPPER!!

My pictures are on an ‘all rights reserved’ copyright. Why wasn’t I asked if you could use the pictures before you wrote this? Is it to hard to write a mail?
And then you credit me with a misspelled name?
And why is there no way to contact you but with a comment?
Questions I’d like an answer to.

I designed this chopper back in June 2008 and posted about it in October 2008 on a DIY Electric Car Forum it was called the “SENATOR”, Contacted a few chopper companies to build me a chassis for the EV parts but no company contacted me back, so I shelved the idea for a later date. Yesterday I until I fell over this chopper, My Chopper designed but renamed “SEIMENS SMART CHOPPER” . Do not believe me then visit http://www.diyelectriccar.com/ look under the thread “Cannot Trust Forums “
I like to know how OCC came to have my design chopper.
Spelling mistakes??? On Wednesday Seimens (Should read Siemens) and Dubbed the Seimens Smart Chopper (Should also read Siemens)
Otherwise not bad. Iwould like to test ride it.
I am really interested in this… I have been working on an electric trike design. If I can find an investor or builder I have the design that will turn both the bike world and automotive world on their heads!!!If any one is interested in talking with me you can contact me at ramblinpete32@netzero.net … Put trike in the subject line. The Teutul’s are close but I got one up on thier design.
