A large steel tubular section of wind turbine tower rolled off a truck today in upstate New York, dumping both the tower and the rig into a corn field. According to reports, the road was closed for several hours as workers cleared debris and repaved a section of broken road.
The truck was coming from Ontario, Canada, and was headed to a wind farm in the Buffalo area.
The cost of moving a complete wind turbine unit generally varies from roughly $100,000 to $150,000 — but this one will likely cost a little more.
