Made using only plant-based renewable resources, the new line of iPhone 4 covers allow eco-friendly techies to integrate style and performance.
Using the latest in bioplastics technology, technological accessory maker bioserie hopes to produce less greenhouse gas emissions in manufacturing, as well as prevent potential toxic pollution once the cover is discarded.
"We believe it is possible to enjoy technology without harming the fragile ecosystems of our Earth," says Kaya Kaplancali, CEO of bioserie. "We're exploring the cutting-edge of green science to develop products that allow consumers to enjoy their iPhone 4 and other Apple devices in an environmentally-responsible way."
Although bioserie certainly isn't the first company to develop accessories for protecting and optimizing Apple's portable devices, they are one of the only companies doing so without the use of harmful petrochemicals derived from oil.
During the manufacturing process, most petrochemicals are combined with chlorine—an extremely dangerous chemical. Chlorine produces toxic emissions and contaminating wastes. Chlorine continues to pollute when disposed of, as the wastes emit further atmospheric, liquid and solid toxic waste (via Harmonious Environment).
The bioserie iPhone 4 cover features:
- Fully biobased bioplastic body with no toxic ingredients
- Lightweight protection - only 0.4 ounces
- Patent-pending screen protection feet allowing safe face-down placement
- Easily access to iPhone 4 controls when cover is on
- Finely textured surface providing comfort and better ergonomics
- Colors: black, white, orange, lush green, forest green and red.

The iPhone 4 cover is the newest addition to bioserie's existing line of "made of plants" covers for the iPhone 3G/3GS, iPod touch and iPod nano. Based in Hong Kong, the company launched its first line of bioplastic iPhone covers in February 2010.
If you're interested in greener protection for your iPhone 4, you'll be happy to know that with a price of $34.95, these eco-friendly covers are far more affordable than the phones themselves. Check them out on www.bioserie.com or www.amazon.com.
