Energy Efficient Lightbulbs Receive An Elegant Redesign

The Plumen 001 brings a designer aesthetic to energy efficient lighting.

CFL bulbs use 80 percent less energy than traditional incandescent light bulbs and last about 8 times longer. Despite the ability of glass tubes to be formed into endless shapes, CFL manufacturers have limited themselves to three generic designs.

Why not combine greater efficiency with a pleasing appearance? Plumen has addressed this with a graceful and modern design.

As consumers continue to strive for greater efficiency in their homes, CFL lightbulbs have become an easy option to reduce energy consumption. The Plumen 001 is a redesign of the CFL that combines high efficiency with beauty. Rather than hiding being dusty lampshades, Plumen's elegant form is a lightbulb that needs no camouflage.

Plumen was titled after a bird's show feather, known as the plume. The plume is intended to attract attention to a bird's prowess and beauty. Plumen is designed to call attention to energy saving light bulbs and exhibit that good design and sustainability can coexist.

Currently, Plumens can only be purchased in Europe but will soon be released in the US and around the world in 2011.

Karen’s interest in art began as early as her first memories. Throughout high school and college she explored various mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture and glass blowing.     I use energy saving bulbs at home buy they are ugly these look fantastic
